Death of a Friend
In 2002 (the summer before my sophomore year at TCU), I bought this truck at a sort of “less than upscale” car lot in Paducah, KY. It had approximately 80,000 miles on it when I purchased it. The body was in okay condition and it didn’t even have a CD Player. I only expected it to get me through college.
Well today, after 3 aftermarket CD Players, 100,000 miles, countless...

Baby Class
If you are looking to take some baby/parenting classes in preparation for the birth of your child, I’d encourage you to look other places than the classes offered by Harris Methodist Southwest.
We’ve taken two classes (Breastfeeding and Baby’s 1st Year) and both of have been long-winded, a bit uninformative and taught by instructors who don’t seem to be up-to-date or in...

Nothing like standing in line at the post office even before they open. And we wonder why they are $8 Billion in debt.
Can't Sleep
I’m very excited about heading home. Having a little trouble getting to sleep tonight.
Now I’ve been sucked into a Holmes Inspection mini-marathon.
Dear Facebook,
Why the F$@& won’t you work on my iPhone? I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled you and you still won’t work. What crock of crap.

robertreich:
Labor Day is traditionally a time for picnics and parades. But this year is no picnic for American workers, and a protest march would be more appropriate than a parade.
Not only are 25 million unemployed or underemployed, but American companies continue to cut wages and benefits. The median wage…

I’ve been watching the #pgachampionship, it’s interesting how the commentators have a vested interest in who wins the tournament. Because the current leaders are clearly not who they want to win.
Finally settled into the @bennett4va campaign headquarters here in VA Beach. Great office and a really great group of people. Ready to show that VA Beach Can Do Better.
The best part about the east coast is @Yuengling. I wish they had it everywhere.
Have officially landed in Norfolk, VA. Waiting for baggage amongst a sea of humanity.
In Tampa, there is this opaque grey thing in the sky obscuring the sun. It seems to be releasing a clear liquid that is falling to the ground. I don’t know what to call it.
Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.

Dear Patrons,
Tips are appreciated by the delivery drivers.
This has been a public service message by the International Association of Delivery Drivers.
First day @jimmyjohns went pretty good, going back for training on a night shift. Now that I’ve located a temp job, hopefully I can locate a real job.

Minimum Wage
As a person who has an MBA, I’ve read a fair number of case studies on management styles and ways to keep employees engaged in their jobs. Today, I was reading the “Rules of Employment” for an employer who pays the majority of their employees minimum wage.
What I find very interesting is the idea that so many ridiculous rules and regulations are being imposed on a job that pays...

How Do We Get On A Full-Time Election Cycle?
Before reading this post, check out the introduction http://tumblr.com/xqx38hrboj
As a broad based example, I’m going to use the model Texas has for election season vs. legislative season.
In Texas, the Legislature meets for approximately 6 months in every other year (the odd numbered years). The election for that Legislature is held in the year preceding (the even numbered years). So,...
Josh Hamilton and Taylor Fauk, doing Party in the USA at 8ers Camp
The preparations are made, Eighters Camp starts at 4:30.
The Friday edition of moving is complete, thank the lord. It was a crisp 103 degrees today, at one point I thought I might need a light jacket.
We’ve got approximately 60% of the stuff moved, stopping for lunch now.
My mother in law just emailed me a picture of the DNC while they were on a bus tour of DC. It made me smile.

How To Run For Public Office - Fundraising Part 2
(If you haven’t already, read the Fundraising Introduction Here)
1. A Basic Budget - Just like anything, unless you have plan in place its often difficult to know how to proceed. A contractor wouldn’t build a new school without the architectural drawings to serve as a guide, so why would you “build” a fundraising operation without a basic budget.
Sit down with your...

Why Do We Hate Politicians So Much?
It seems to be a general rule amongst voters that politicians are one of the lowest rungs of people on the professional ladder. According to this article from Great Britain, politicians are considered the sixth most hated profession in all of the Britain (I’d imagine that stat to hold mostly true for the US).
This begs an important question: Why do people hate politicians?
Well, they...
